Context for my new name 😅⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I did actually get married last year hence the new surname.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The wedding was tiny, only 9 guests so you didn’t miss out! But it was pretty great! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I asked Sam (husband) if I should share some pics and he said no as he doesn’t think he looks that good 😅 (𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 ‘𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘵’). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
However, he doesn’t have instagram so might sneak some in especially so can share about the wonderful @florist_from_the_forest who I cannot describe how much I love everything she does, I could live in her shop! Make sure you visit if you ever go to Chagford @alex_toze_wedding_photographer who was such a dream and captured every moment even dealing with awkward can’t pose for a camera me and my fave mega babe @gisellemichelgendre_mua it was like having your bestie do your hair and make up (but with professional skills!)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But yup in a nutshell changed my name to Seadon. Although just for my business. ⁣
Bit confusing as I know most people keep their business name and change their personal name but I’ve done it other way round…!⁣
⁣⁣
Had name advice obvs though thank you @francescaoddieastrology and @richard_abott_1111 ⁣😍🌿⁣

New name, who dis? 😅
⁣
I’ve spent the past two days at the @collegeofnaturopathicmedicine 25th anniversary events. It was an incredible weekend where I got to meet so many people studying, practising and teaching about natural medicine. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This is the future of health by reclaiming our right to heal ourselves and our community and I love it.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s been 10 years since I first started my studies at CNM, 7 years since I started working as an naturopath and I never stop learning, loving, living and breathing what I do.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I started as a nutritional therapist and it’s spiralled from there, qualified in herbal medicine, added in iridology, kinesiology, worked on Harley street and at Neal’s Yard, evolved my practice to help people with more and more complex cases, teaching about nutrition and herbs, hosting workshops, selling herbal teas, working on retreats, creating educational content for brands, organising CPD for practitioners, mentoring and more! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And it felt right to update my business to meet me where I am now! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So I’m launching a new website, a Substack community called Materia Medica and all under a new name Izzy Seadon!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Will share more over next few days as currently pooped after spending two days talking everything herbs and detox!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
But a big thank you to @moonstonecreative.co who have been absolutely amazing at rebranding me @metalpotato to translate the design into my new website.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣Maybe I’m naive but I’m excited and optimistic for the future!

‘The beginning of joy is to be content with your situation- St Ambrose of Optima.’⁣
⁣
I’m working with @corecrystals today trying to get through my to-do list, chatting about social media and she said I should post this picture. But I told her I had nothing of interest say about it! ⁣
So she suggested to pull one of her crystal cards- what popped out was a card with the crystal citrine and the theme of abundance and the solar plexus.⁣
⁣
Funnily enough, she said that card has cropped up three times this week already and @francescaoddieastrology is exploring this theme too at the moment.⁣
⁣
Money and abundance stuff makes me feel awkward (and if same for you good news is I think @francescaoddieastrology will be fixing that for people).⁣
However, the abundance that I revel and delight in is nature at this time of year. ⁣
I walk around and see the nourishing mineral rich greens of chickweed and cleavers spilling out onto the paths, I can nibble on lime leaves and can smell the heady Hawthorn flower and lilac blossoms. The sun is out and there is a treat at every corner! ⁣
I feel contented, it’s a good feeling, God provides everything we need.⁣

⁣
Very simple, over and out 😚xxx ⁣

Everyone raves about infrared light - something many of us our deficient in from lack of exposure to sunlight which has been replaced with artificial blue light in homes and offices.

Hans Gunther @wholisticlivinguniversity told me how blue light enhances chaos and breaks down structure - this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Blue light tells us to be active and wakeful. But the problem is that many of us our only exposed to blue light especially at night, when it gets dark we use artificial lighting that confuses our body clocks. Red light slows us down, helps us sleep and restore.

So this is why infrared is anti-inflammatory and helps our cells regenerate and repair.

Infrared saunas are commonly used to support detoxification, recover from injuries and exercise, heal the skin and more. There are different kinds of infrared on the spectrum of light with benefits being seen from near infrared and far infrared. We can of course get this all for free from the sun...or invest in saunas and infrared gadgets like the biohacking crew.

But what Hans then told me was incredible...our own body also produces far infrared light. So simply hugging can give us some of these infrared benefits. I never knew this but it makes so much sense.
Our palms emit 8-14 microns of far infrared and if you are familiar with the Bates method for improving eyesight, placing your eyes in your palms (palming) is one of the key techniques. I've been doing it recently to heal my short sightedness and it does work, I can see so much better after resting my eyes in my hands. Is this because of the healing infrared?

Lots to think about but homework for everyone is 7 hugs a day for at least 20 seconds to see how your health improves!

Spring is my favourite time of year with so many wonderful herbs that are popping up which can help cleanse and revitalise the body.
The lovely violet is easy to identify with her heart-shaped leaves and purple flowers. The colour purple is often associated with blood detoxification so you can already tell the medicinal values often just by looking at them..if your leaves are shaped like a heart then no prizes for guessing what you can help with!
The leaves and flowers are edible so you can add them to a spring salad for extra nutrition 😚

So oestrogen does not just gradually drop during the menopausal years.

In fact, it usually does the opposite reaching all new-highs and fluctuating over the years until it becomes lower..generally not deficient...just lower!

The lovely calming, soothing progesterone is the one we need to focus on. It can easily get overwhelmed by stress, high oestrogen and interfering environmental chemicals.

We need progesterone to balance out oestrogen- unopposed oestrogen can cause anxiety, bloating, weight gain, sore breasts, irregular cycles, headaches, migraines, insomnia, brain fog, difficulties concentrating and more...!

There are lots of factors contributing to oestrogen dominance but a primary one would be the toxic load of chemicals in our environment that mimic oestrogen.

It's huge for our health but often overlooked. Supporting detoxification of these chemicals is FOUNDATIONAL to hormone harmony and particularly at this stage of life.

I will be taking you through ways to reduce exposure to these chemicals, how you support your body to detoxify them and deal with other the root causes of oestrogen dominance in Master Your Menopause.

I hope you can join me head to the link in bio @izzynaturopath to learn more.

P.S if you have low oestrogen don't worry we will be covering how to deal with that too.

I've actually been talking a lot about stress in the past few weeks!
Its a topic that is so normalised- I mean everyone is stressed right?!- that we forget how damaging it is on the body.

For women dealing with perimenopause and menopause, it should be the number 1 priority because our body will prioritise stress hormones over sex hormones.
Therefore, adding to the increasing ups and downs of progesterone and oestrogen, making symptoms amplified.

Plus all the other effects of stress such as insomnia, blood pressure, muscle loss, sagging skin and so on...!

It's stressful even learning about stress 😅.
However, there are ways to calm down the cortisol and working with @canineoutoften who had simple strategies to calm @albeethetruffler down in stressful situations made me think about the ways that we could also do the same!

As well as calming stress we can help our body adapt to stress. Some of my favourite herbs are ADAPTogens which do just that!
Herbs like ashwagandha, reishi, rhodiola are becoming more popular because they are safe ways to increase resilience and repair from some of the damaging effects of stress.

We need all these tools in our toolbox to cope with what life and society throws at us and I talk about them and more in my course Master Your Menopause.

I share with you a holistic approach to hormone health using herbal medicine, lifestyle and nutrition to heal the underlying imbalances in the body that can contribute to menopausal symptoms such as mood swings, headaches, bloating, low libido, hot flushes, fatigue and more...
